This is interesting news since the Rebel has much of the 10D
inside. I have a friend who uses a 10D with a 550EX flash and 
his exposures are about 1/2 off some of the time so he has 
adjusted flash exposure compensation to account for this.

Going the other way as this other person says I think wrong.
It is using the auto sensor on the flash which is less accurate.
I had Metz flashes and found the auto sensor to underexpose 
slightly (about 1/2 stop) while the Canon 550EX was dead on.
