The regular monopod from Cullmann is one of the few short enough to 
fit inside the rear pocket of a PhotoTrekker (MiniTrekker has same 
size rear pocket btw)....
(without head, but I tend to use it only with my 200/2.8, which has a 
rotating tripod-collar)

The only possible improvement would be a lighter one from fiberglass, 
but all these come in the wrong sizes too.
