Could be worth mentioning lens performance on different bodies (although I suspect that for the purposes of this discussion it's assumed to be different lenses but on the same body).
I have an EF 28-135 IS lens that's an outright terrible performer on my older EOS bodies (like the 1N RS, with which in lower light the autofocus is nearly useless), but works just fine on the EOS 3 or 1D.
