I'd make sure that the equipment is insured properly for travel in case your do encounter one of those worst-case theft or loss scenarios. Thus, you'd at least have the comfort of knowing the equipment would be replaced with minimal out-of-pocket expenses to you (less whatever deductible you'd have).
