You might want to look a bit further into that 50/1.0. It has received some less than rave reviews at times. Many will say that the 50/1.4 and even the 50/1.8 are better optical performers. Check this review on photo.net:

There are other fast prime in the line-up that you might want to look a bit closer at. The 85/1.2L and the 135/2L are reported to have extraordinary optical performers and are considered by some to be the gems of the Canon line-up.
Also, another great lens from Canon is the 24-70/2.8L. This is a heavy lens, but a star performer and considered by some as their everyday live-on-the-camera lens.
