The 135/2 and 1.4 TE combo are on my list of things to buy.
Why? I want the ability to shoot at f2. I'm willing to go down to 2.8
for
a ~200mm lens. But at 135, I want the extra stop.
Size and weight are also a factor. The 70-200/2.8 is a big, honkin'
lens.
I've owned a similar zoom of a different brand before. It's a nice
lens.
But often, I left it at home because of the size/weight issue.

Eric,
I own the 135mm lens. It is smaller than a zoom and sharper. AF is
exceptionally fast and I you would be very happy with the lens overall.
I have used it with my Tarmon 1.4x SP Pro converter. Results were
excellent. Now mind you I did not do a scientific test and blow up a
section to 40x the norm and look at detail as this would take too much
time, but the slides and prints look fine to me.
