The 10d has the wheel and a set button, but it has a
separate button for panning an enlarged photo. Maybe
Canon has combined it with the QCD, but that's not
certain.

I don't think so. That IS where the on-off switch is
located on the 10d, but if you look at that switch on
the 20d, there's a line going to the QCD. That would
seem to indicate that it controls the QCD rather than
camera power.
Canon's numbering scheme has always used lower (closer
to 1) numbers for items higher in the numbering
scheme. (1, 3, 5, 300, 3000, for example.) So the 20d
may be, in some ways at least, a less fully featured
camera than the 10d. We'll just have to wait and see.
