That is what I'm wondering about. I thought I remembered reading
(although I can't remember where) that the pitch is the same on all the
current Canon cmos chips, it is just the size of sensor that generates
the image size.  The notion is supported by the ratio of 6-8-11 which is
roughly inversely proportional to 1.6-1.3-1 .

Someone must know of an authoritative source on this.

I am pretty sure the pixel pitch is different on all these sensors. The
1Ds probably has the biggest pixel pitch which is a good thing.
