battery back (not rechargeable batteries) 5. bigger, not smaller 6. LOTS
more AF sensors, including a center one that will AF at f/8 7. Wireless

reduced crop factor. Am I the only one beginning to think that full
frame is the medium format of the future?

Yeah. I was thinking of the 20d as a second digital camera and a
comparatively low cost backup to the Mark II, but thinking it through
gives me pause.

The 1.6 crop factor is somewhat mitigaged by the new EF-S lenses, but
then that's one or two more lenses I wouldn't need otherwise.

Different control layout, lack of a full-size viewfinder and eyepiece
shutter would be annoying but livable.

I think the lack of AF at F8 is the stopper for me. That's a managable
limitation for many situations, but for birds and such with long glass,
a very real issue.

If AF at F8 were there, though, there are some benefits to having a
second camera with a smaller form factor and built-in flash handy, so
I'm not so sure there isn't a place for a camera with some of the key
pro features, but not all of them - otherwise why not just get the Mark
II?

So, I think that's the middle ground the imaginary and unlikely 3D could
provide, very similar to where the 3 fell between the A2 and 1V. It
could be 1k more than the 20D and still be about 1/2 the cost of a Mark
II. I think it'd find buyers from both ends of the market, more than
offsetting any cannibalization of Mark II sales.

For my next wish . . .
