Similar scenario here.
Canon 20D body + BG-E2 arrived today (on my birthday). I ordered back in August and got a relatively competetive price (for European customers at least).
My previous camera was the ElanIIe and BP-50Same here (EOS 50e) but with EF 17-35 2.8 L, EF 24-85 USM, EF 75-100 IS USM, EF 50 1.8 II
My first impression: wow, it's fast!
My first impression: Wow, that darn thing is heavy ;-)
Well, I just put the batteryt in the charger and went to work. Hope to have some time tonight to play with it.
I'd really like to get the BG-E2 grip for the vertical grip features sinceAgreed. However I have big hands and hope that the BG-E2 will help handling the camera. Especially in portrait mode I'll prefer to have the additional shutter release.
I'll be shooting a lot of verticals soon. But there is no financial
advantage to using the grip as was the ElanIIe's grip where you could use AA
batteries instead of 2CR5's. The BP-50 paid for itself many times over
because of that.
I used it quite a lot but I had the feeling that it was slow and also slowing down the AF in general. I would be nice to have but definitely not a must.I never used eye control focus on my ElanIIe because it was too slow for true action.
Regards
Thomas
