(off topic question: what's a good program to batch convert multiple 20D jpg's into something more viewable/searchable like 600x400 resolution?)
One time this weekend, after switching from my EFS18-55 to 100-300USM, my 20D just froze. The LCD still showed some data, but wouldn't respond. I had to remove the battery for it to work again. And apparently it's a fairly common problem (but of course you will hear more chatter from those with a problem than from those who don't have a problem). I have been reading and a few forums have documented it pretty heavily. But here's Canon's reply to my email: "Thank you for contacting Canon product support. I'm sorry to hear of the difficulty you have encountered with the EOS 20D. Canon is aware of this issue, and it is currently being investigated. It seems to occur very rarely, under extremely limited conditions. If it does occur, you can remove and reinsert the battery to restore your camera to its normal condition. Please note that this issue does not affect images taken with the camera. We plan to release a firmware update for download from the web when the appropriate countermeasures are determined. We will let you know the schedule for this release when it becomes available. Thank you for choosing Canon." So, we'll see.
