Happy user of a Canon EOS 1000F for a number of years, in my last
trip to Japan I have suffered a number of problems therewith, the most
important one being that of the subject. The problem appears on any of the
four sides of the picture and the band width is about 1/3 thereof. It
seems as it the shutter had not opened completely or for the whole length
of the exposure.

In a particular photograph, about one of its diagonal halves
(right down) is white, instead, as if it were due to sun glare, although
this seems unlikely in view of the next photograph taken, more towards the
sun (high and right) but lacking the problem. Should it have been due to a
reflection?

Second in importance to the problem of the subject is that about
half of the times I intended to take a photograph using a flash, be it the
built-in or an additional Canon 430EZ, the flash is not lighted although
it is charged and ready. It happens even with a new battery in the camera
body and apparently at random.

Can anyone help with the identification and solution of any of
these problems? Thanks a lot in advance!
