For starters, I make prints of images taken on my EOS 20D.  Ok, now that

The problem isn't that the printers are cheap, and the ink is expensive.
The problem is that the printers are cheap, and so is the ink, but the
cost you pay doesn't reflect the reality.  There is a lot of money to be
made by gouging people for proprietary consumables.  I think we are
looking for a sunny day ahead, however.  Printers and P&S digital
cameras are proliferating like never before, and the tremendous base of
users with digital imaging in the home will cause actual comptetion to
happen, which will hopefully cause ink prices to be more grounded in
reality.
