You don't read. I said "beginning to mature." I think the current 1.6x models are doing a great job in satisfying the masses, which is all that will ever be required.
...As the technology improves and effectively the cost improvements are made we will see the next 20D replacement have a 1.3 chip like the Mk II does today...
The 20D will never become a 1D, as you suggest, and Canon themselves has mentioned before that the 1.3x format is dead.
