I have a D60, and use two settings:
RAW for most stuff, Large/Fine if I'm doing a large number of snapshots
I know I won't process individually anyway, like a party or whatever.

The RAW wins in all aspects in terms of quality and control of the end-
result, the JPG wins in convenience.

Simplified view:
The RAW is like a negative, a good starting point for further work.
The JPG is like a transparency, basically finished, but minor adjustments
are possible..

The only reason for not using both RAW+JPG is processing time, download
time and disk space. I have ~100 GB stored (in 5 copies) (online1, online2,
offline, remote, DVD), and my current approach is that hopefully disk
size will grow faster than my my archive..
