To me, the *most* significant thing about the announcement is the admission 
that they can acutally MAKE a CMOS sensor in the full 35mm framesize! That is 
big news. I think it's remarkable that the thing will run off the old 
BP511/511A packs with a sensor of that size and resolution. 

If the DIGIC processing is as good as it is in the 20D (I actually like the 
results I get out of a D60) I can think of no compelling reason to shoot or 
scan slides anymore. Really. 

If the D30 was Canon's Model T, the 5D will be its Model A.
