To me, the *most* significant thing about the announcement is the admission that they can acutally MAKE a CMOS sensor in the full 35mm framesize! That is big news. I think it's remarkable that the thing will run off the old BP511/511A packs with a sensor of that size and resolution. If the DIGIC processing is as good as it is in the 20D (I actually like the results I get out of a D60) I can think of no compelling reason to shoot or scan slides anymore. Really. If the D30 was Canon's Model T, the 5D will be its Model A. Life is what happens to you... While you're busy making other plans!
