Haven't seen this issue being brought up in the past on the Canon DSLR (such as the 1D Mk II I have had for the past year), so here it goes:
I would love to have one more digit on the in-camera file numbering, right now it needs to be resetted at 9,999, since the camera shutter is rated to 200,000+ cycles and it's so easy to shoot large amount of images on an DSLR, I have already rolled the sequences 3 times in a little over one year of ownership. Since I use the file numbering off the camera for my filing, a five digit file numbering system up to 99,999 would allow distinct numbering of images for much longer time than it is right now, at my pace it would be every 3 years rather than 3 times a year with the current 4 digit numbering, which has occasionally started to cause duplicate file names (but of different content) problems. I don't really care for folders as I don't typically have any use for them, a 5 digit counter is much more useful for me. Any comments?
