Were you using a grip? If so, there's a known issue with the earlier
versions having anough flex in them (especially with a long lens or flash
bracket) to cause the grip to lose contact with the body. the newer grips
have a stronger batter door (of all things) and there's a colored dot on
the
inside of the battery door. If yours is one of the early ones, it's a free
fix from Canon, either a service center or CPS.

Yes I was using a grip and from what I see there is no color do on the
inside of the door.
