Although Gerard has already answered the question, you might want
to read of more ways to make full use of your 420EX.
For instance, did you know that you can use FEL to force the
420EX to emit full flash power?

Don't be too quick to get rid of your 420EX. There is one thing
my 420EX can do which my 550EX and 580EX just cannot do. Automatic
switching between 2nd curtain sync indoors, and FP sync outdoors.
