To verify the solution I created 5 files
ABCD12345.jpg, ABCD12346.jpg, ABCD12347.jpg ... and so
on

The I issued the following command in the DOS prompt

ren ABCD?????.txt PQRS?????.txt

That did the trick.

If I understood your problem corectly, no further
software is neccessary. Limitations: This will only
work as long as the intention is not to change the
final length of the name.  

If this works then this can be turned into a batch
command.
