I do not know about the algorithm... but it sounds like, well 1st (or what ever) generation IS that takes the 0.5 second to get the gyros running to be ready - coupled together with more sophisticated algorithm that measures your shake for a while (2 s.) and then can predict the way you will shake during the photograph and thus get a little better quality. Sounds very interesting indeed.
