if your thinking that it represents good value, then I recommend that you
just do it. I see all too often people agonising about this feature or
that feature, when 99% of the time the features you need are provided by
even the most basic of the cameras in the range.

Its true that the sensors might get more pixels, but I guess that is
always going to be true. I've found that well exposed (no shake, and
clearly focused) RAW images can be upsized 25% with no major losses, and
that was with the 20D which is significantly smaller sensor and pixel
count. Just how big are you going to desire printing? If the 5D is
really a limmitation then perhaps you should be considering medium or
large format film??

I think that the 5D is an excellent machine streets ahead of the 20D /
30D simply because of the larger sensor and the therefore attendent
larger focusing screen you get, if I had the buks I'd just own one.

My EOS film camera is still the 630 and having used EOS 1's, all I
really miss is the metering display in manual mode and the thumb wheel
on the back (I find the PIC modes pointless). I don't even miss that
when shooting landscapes on a tripod, and infact find having to put my
eye to the viewfinder or be at the right angle above the camera to see
the LCD to check exposure settings slightly frustrating.

I seriously doubt that there will be any 'killer' features on
subsequent models to the 5D, anyway even if there are, it will cost more
than the camera you're looking at now (with the cash back offer) so why
wait?
