I'd hardly think 2 full frame and 3 APS makes the full frame cameras a "rarity". The Mk III isn't even on the market yet, so you can't count that, but even giving you the leeway to do that, 2 vs 4 is hardly a "rarity" either. The "1", according to the Canon EOS-1V brochure, designation was always their top of the line, no matter how good any of the other offerings were. There were never, at least with the film cameras, more than one "1" series camera current at one time. With the digital, they seem to like to have a few "1" series cameras out at the same time. Currently, there are three "1" series digital cameras that Canon considers current, if you include the new Mk III.
