The 135mm F2 is the sharpest in the current Canon lineup. The only other one
that comes to mind is the discontinued 200mm F1.8. People who have used it rate
it even higher. In the current lineup, I like the 85mm F1.8. Granted it is not
an L, but for the price it is superb. Canon has pretty much put more into zooms
as that is what sells, not primes. For me the 70-200mm F2.8L IS is a fantastic
zoom. But a lot heavier than the 135mm F2. I sold the 135mm F2 when I bought
the 70-200. Even though it was a stop faster and slightly sharper, the zoom was
far more flexible.

I've known about this lens for a long time, read all the raves,
etc., and last night a fellow photog let me borrow his at a concert
we were both shooting. I'm using a 30D. All I can say is I've
joined the choir - wow, what an incredible lens. I've been reviewing
images from the evening and the best just blow me away. It has
shot right up to the top of my buy it now list. This lens strikes
me as almost perfect, handled well.

Question: what other lenses in the Canon line-up have had this
impact on you?

Ken
