Thanks Peter. I've weighed up the prose (sic) and cons and will go with
the 24. I gather edge sharpness wide open is not first rate but the lens
will sit on a 1.3 crop sensor - thus giving me an angle of view more
like a 35 on a full frame (which is what I want) - and losing the edges
in the process. I would use it wide open (else why have a 1.4?) and so
this seems a good compromise to me.
