Austin,

I went and checked my lens too. I was surprised to find a very slight movement
in the front inner ring that clamps the front element into the lens. Seems very
odd to me this is the case. Mine thought is not what you would call excessive,
many a mm at most.

Hi,

My few month old 50/1.4 EF lense does in fact have some, IMO, excessive play
in the front inner barrel, the one the lense element(s) is/are mounted to.
The outer barrel, the one the shade mounts to, has none what so ever. So, I
can confirm what Stan says, and frankly, I've never seen a lense with play
like this, unless something was wrong.

I wonder if anyone has a 50/1.4 EF that doesn't have any of this play?

Regards,

Austin
