My 50/1.4 has similar play, and is, in fact, one of the sloppiest
mounted lenses I've had, along with the 28-135 that I've gotten rid
of. The 50/1.4 now also starts binding near its close focus limit
even though I'm quite certain I've never dropped it or banged it
against anything. Just one of the poorest mounts of any lens I've had.
