All,
Thanks for all the replies. This is a great confirmation on what I heard
before. It helped me make up my mind, i.e. that the "Integrated Cleaning
System" isn't all that helpful.
I wish the 30D would have at least 10MP as that would give me a native
200dpi for a 13"x19" print. But 8MP really isn't that far off.
Thanks
Hi Robert,
I print all my images (to A5, A4, A3 etc. as required) via Photoshop 6. I
set the paper size in the Page Setup option of the menu along with paper
type, bleed options or whatever for the session, and then using Print
Options, I normally untick the "Center Image" and "Scale to fit media"
options, and set the numerical options in the associated boxes to get the
image the size and positioning I want. Doing this, at no time am I aware of
the dpi setting, and there's no chance that I may "Resample" in error!! (It
has happened when I used the "Image, Image Size" route where the ppi / dpi
setting is available.) Where and How the temporary change in resolution is
done, I'm not sure, but I get very good prints (Epson 1270 & R220), and get
on with life without worrying about precisely how many dpi/ppi I was using.
When setting the Scale magnification under Print Options, I do normally
choose what I expect are "easy" numbers, in the hope that any stair-setting
or pixellation will be minimised, which it seems to be. (Haven't done any
side by side tests though.)
I've also used PS Elements in the past, but find the Curves features in PS6
necessary. (I also have SmartCurve as an option.)
Matters might be different if I was involved in sending images to an agency,
but then it wouldn't be a hobby.
