Only if you are using a 22.5 mm x 15 mm portion of the 5D's sensor, i.e. you 
are using the 5D as a 12.7/2.5 = 5 megapixel camera.

When you say "that area of the image", do you mean an area of the same physical 
size on each sensor, or an area that is the same proportion of each sensor's 
total area?
