Sure, two guys with two different bodies 1.0 and 1.6 from the same location
I understand, but given most people use zooms these days, to do so they
would probably not be using the same focal length. If they did use the same
focal length, then the images wouldn't be the "exact same image".

I understand, and I've said that as well, but in order to have the "same
exact image", the focal lengths have to be different...which means the
conclusion (10mp has higher image pixel density) doesn't follow.

How is an image that is cropped 1.6x of another image the "exact same
image"? That's the part I don't understand. If that's what he's
contending, that two images of the same "event" cropped significantly
differently are the same...well, OK...but they really aren't the "exact same
image". And, the point of that comparison makes little sense to me. But,
that's just me.

We (meaning you and I and others in the conversation) seem to understand the
dynamics of what's involved, so what ever he meant either fits within what
we've discussed and he's using a very different definition of "exact same
image", or it doesn't...and since Peter won't clarify his statements, we are
only guessing...so I think this horse is beaten dead by now.

I'd like to hear how the Rebel XTi images compare to the 5D images...of the
"exact same image" (using a "common" definition of "exact same" ;-) The
Rebel XTi is a compelling camera for the price, but that crop factor (and
therefore small viewfinder) has me quite hesitant, and waiting to get a full
frame digital EOS.

Regards,

Austin
