Hi Bob,

First, I've never flown my A2 off a grass strip, so I'm not going to be
much
help there. I fly out of a 2K' paved strip, but I'm pretty much off well
before mid-field. I rotate at 60mph, climb at between 500-700fpm on an
average day (I live near the water), and a grand or better if it's cold
and
dry. I climb at 80mph, and after I've got a grand under me, I generally
drop the nose a bit and climb at 90mph. I have the C-90 with a cruise
prop.

Even if the field was wetter or softer than you might have thought, it
wouldn't explain poor performance in the air. I sure don't think you
should
be expecting this to be normal. When did you have the compression check
last?

PS: I'm assuming it's a 1966 A2; if they'd been making them in 1996, I'd
be
one happy broad.
