Bob,

I should know those numbers your asking about, but I dont' ( haven't been
flying long enough to quote those figures without going to check first) .
If
you look at the performance data for the Alon A-2 on Trade-A-Plane at the
link below:

http://www.trade-a-plane.com/protected/cgi-bin/perfdb.pl?make=ERCOUPE&mode
l=ALON+A-2&showspecs.x=Continue

ERCOUPE ALON A-2
Engine: CONT C-90-16F 75% Cruise: 107 kts Wingspan: 30.00 ft
Horsepower: 90 Stall: 49 kts Length: 20.17 ft
Rec'md TBO: 1800 hrs Range: 410 nm Height: 5.96 ft
Srv Ceiling: 17300 ft Empty Wt: 930 lbs
Rate of Climb: 640 ft/min Gross Wt: 1450 lbs
       Max Fuel: 24 gal
Takeoff (over 50 ft obstacle): 2100 ft
Landing (over 50 ft obstacle): 1750 ft
       Takeoff: 540 ft
       Landing: 650 ft

It indicates that Take-off over a 50' obstacle will take 2100', and I'd
guess that is factory numbers under best conditons ( hard surface) So
having
60' trees at 2150' would appear to be cutting it very close. And although
I
have not flown off grass, couldn't that slow you down and increase the
take-off roll?

Regards,

Flight by machines heavier than air is unpractical
and insignificant, if not utterly impossible.

aircraft last fall and have not been able to fly it again til yesterday
due
to operating out of a grass strip that has not been suitable until now due
to the weather. I did mke about 5 take off's and landings out of this
airstrip in the fall prior to the bad weather.

level 2000' grass runway (grass about 3-4" high) with 60' trees 50 yrds
off
the end off the runway. It took me over 1000' to get 65 MPH and in the air
and I had to turn to the left to avoid the tree tops ( needless to say it
scared the hell out of me).

a problem. Like needing a longer runway or worse a new engine. ( Don't say
loose some weight off your lard ass, I already thought of that)

as
you established a climb to avoid going past the redline. The Alon will
not
even get near the redline.
