Oil leak.
The pull starters have a leather ring that goes around the push tube and
that is supposed to seal the oil in the engine.
It does a miserable job when it is in good shape and a poor job when it is
not. Some starters have been modified to accept a seal instead of the leather
gasket.
The gasket seems to leak as well as other places when the oil level is
above 3 quarts. Filling it up to full, (4) seems to just spill out the extra
quart until the 3 quart comfort level is reached.
I have the spin on filter adaptor and instead of the 48108 filter I use the
48109 which is the same only a little longer. There is room for it so why not.
It costs the same.
It takes a little more oil to fill, which means a little more oil to cool
the engine, a little more filtration media surface and that extra
mouthful of oil might just be great if the level gets too low one day.

Recently evacuated Houston in the coupe.
So nice to see all of the traffic going nowhere down on I-45 from 3000
feet.
