Kathy, even the dryest air has some water vapor in it. An engine sits with some of the valves partially open, so water vapor will enter your engine through the intake, the exhaust and through the crankcase breather. After a while the oil that is on your cylinder walls and camshaft & crankshaft will drain downwards, exposing bare metal to the water vapor. Corrosion is inevitable. So to beat it you have to fly periodically and keep everything oiled up. To properly store for a long time you have to completely seal off the intake and exhaust ports, the crankcase breather and oil it up, then install dessicant plugs. It's not too hard to do actually- you just have to procure the dessicant plugs. jan z Fresno, CA ========================================================================== ==== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm Search the archives on http://escribe.com/aviation/coupers-tech/
