Oil and engine manufacturers agree: ground running is worse than letting the engine sit. My philosophy is: if you start it you better fly it. BTW, there are a lot of "stupid" people out there. All you have to do is go to the airport some Saturday during the winter and watch them spend 20 minutes preparing then 10 minutes running the engine then another 20 minutes closing everything up.
