Last year I read article(s) saying it's WORSE to run your engine "once
in a while" or even regularly on the ground to prevent corrosion.  Their
point was that unless you get the engine to operating temperature and
KEEP it there for a certain length of time you would not boil out any
accumulated water.

For what it's worth, their assertion was that it was better to stop the
engine after a good flight and leave it than to run it weekly.

You would never half to pickle it if you have some one run it once in a
while which is better than pickling it. Pickling does not solve all of
the
problems of a idle engine.
