You are absolutely right, I had forgotten about that, when it happened to
me, I called the place that rebuilt the carburetor, they said send it
back,
and it was returned within a couple of days with no explanation, but it
worked fine.  I recomember now.  The venturi had to be changed to a one
piece, and the plastic float and needle valve were replaced.  It was less
expensive to send off the carb and have it rebuilt, than to buy the
associated parts.
The symptom was exactly as described, and it happened about 100 hrs after
the rebuild.
