----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----Bob: As I recall, we went through all this about 2 months ago, didn't we? I do not have the service bulletins in front of me, but I believe there were at least 3 or 4 that came out to make modifications to the Alon fuel system.
The Alon originally had thermos bottle type fuel caps and used the hole in the fuselage tank, where the wire gauge came out, for a vent. I have not read or seen the first service bulletin on the fuel system, #8 I believe, but the next one on the fuel system changed the fuel caps and may have added a vent on the bottom of the fuselage. The next fuel bulletin changed the vent location in the fuselage tank, moved the gascolator and changed the fuel caps again.
I think you will find these changes were made to try and stop the siphoning of fuel out of the wing tanks at high angles of attack, but I am not sure.
If you review all the Alon service bulletins, you will see what I mean.
