Bob:
I can tell you from experience, it is a daunting project from the
beginning,
especially if you want all the things to fit that have to. The canopy
must
go back EXACTLY as it was removed. or it will not seal properly it must be
perfectly square in the front, at the exact time it squarely nests at the
rear, and pulls in from the sides at the bottom rear. I built a jig
removed
the old canopy carefully, and carefully ground away on the new canopy for
a
week, till I got it to fit the jig, but the canopy did not work on the
airplane and I had to order another. everything is special. the screws
that
hold on the trim are not just PK screws, they have a special #, the slider
in the rear is a custom made part that nobody makes anymore except Les
Slifkin. The sealing tubing that goes in the grove on top of the
windshield
is a special medical tubing that does not take a set, the front rollers
on
the canopy can be made from a shower door sliding part.
If you a handy and ambidextrous, go ahead, but don't plan on flying for
awhile, and just as a footnote. If the canopy is not properly seated it
can
pop out of the frame in-flight.
I think this is one best left to the professionals. You can get one
installed from LP Plastics for under a thousand.

Flying is fun.

is
crazed and scratched and I got a new tinted canopy with the coupe when I
bought it. What type probems and time involvement an I looking at to
change this out. I just ordered new rollers and rear guides and thought
that while the canopy was off I would replace the glass. The more I look
at
it Iam wondering if I might be biteing off more then I can chew. Any
personal experance insight on this subject would be apreciated.
