Although we had that discussion before, I am not convinced that the empty weight will go up by exactly 40 lbs when converting the wings to all metal. Sure the aluminum weight added is around 40 pounds. Throw in a handful rivets. But on the other hand, before covering the wings with sheet metal , you remove the fabric from the wings. This fabric , soaked in dope and paint is not weightless, one has to subtract the weight of the fabric from the total numbers. So instead of an increase of 40 pounds in weight, one might end up with a total of 20 pounds.
