To all:

We also have a problem of a hot cockpit summer or winter when the sun is out.  Would like to put in an air vent also. Any ideas?

One solution is to put some sun screen on the top of the side windows.  I bought some material at Wal Mart that doesn't need any glue.  Just cut it to size and press it on the window.  It holds by surface tension.  It works!

P.S. After using 87 oct. auto fuel for about a month or so we have had very fouled plugs.  Solution waa to have the spark plugs cleaned and the A&P said to mix the auto 50% and 100 av gas 50% or use 80 oct. av gas which we can't get anymore.  Any one have any suggestions?

I need a little help here. I have no hose going anywhere from this opening in the cowl either. It is essentually unbearable in the cockpit in the summer if I get in a shower and have to close the windows completely. I have a tubing for the heat inlet into the cabin but no other. Where and how is the air from this opening brought in? This could be a big help to me.

John,

ThatÂ’s the opening for the cabin air.  You should have, or get, tubing from that opening to the flapper for the cabin air.

I got great airflow from that opening.

Hello all,, Response was great.. I will go to Terrell soon,, and see Mr. Hardin,, It is a relief that a coupe mechanic is so close by.. The trip was fun,, a little tiring, but a fun adventure,, Other concern,, was oil temp,, I landed one time and let oil cool down,, I have since found  that temp may have been o.k. for my setup,, One question,, There is a small hole in the front right of nose bowl,, about 2-3 inches in diameter,, It appears to be just about in line with oil tank,, It had a screen over it,, Looked like screen that is used on a house window,, anyway,, it had been completely covered with paint.. No air flow.. On my second day of flight,, I removed screen,, to let air flow,, It seemed to lower oil temp.. Was removing screen a good or bad thing to do??  Is hole suppose to help cool oil tank?  Thanks, John #93735
