Good advice on checking things...BUT, Have another look at the crankshaft
end clearance... I BELIEVE you missed a decimal point...
0.025", not 0.0025. Typical end play is such that you can feel the
play....and should not exceed 0.025" as a service maximum.
See page 115 of Continental Engine Manual... Jan 1984.
Interestingly the earlier manual posts 0.026" dated 7-63.
