I have read the NTSB report, as have many of you. Perhaps some Coupers haven't yet had the time to do so ?. A few salient points: (1) the 415C had previously been damaged in a hard landing (nose gear, etc) then sat unrepaired for 2 years (2 ) it had flown only 4 hrs since it's last Annual (3) the CFI pilot did a lot of aerobatic flying, including on the day of the crash (4) he had done loops, inverted flight and aileron rolls as low as 1500 ft (5) both wings and the tail section separated from the airplane (6) post-accident inspection of the wreckage revealed the front spar had fratured at the airplane centerline, and extensive corrosion throughout the wing walk areas and wing spar center section. I'm not suggesting this gives us a clue as to impending FAA AD action, if any. Also, I may have mis-read portions of the NTSB findings. I think we Coupers are fortunate to have expet mechanics/inspectors, e.g., Jan Zanutto, who are going to study the MSB and report their findings to all of us.
