I didn't jump to any conclusions, Hartmut. I simply cited what I had read in the NTSB Report. Under PROBABLE CAUSE: .."extensive corrosion...". Under FACTUAL: "...surface and hat sections displayed surface corrosion.The angle brace stiffeners were flaking and the corrosion had the appearance of intergranular or exfoliation corrosion".

I'll leave it to you to draw conclusions, I have none , so far.
