Hi Darick and  all ,24  hours in 10 years. With that little  time used  a ton  of things could have happened inside  your continental. In just my experience it sounds like oil is getting past the rings mine did that and ever so slightly the consumption increased to a point that I needed an overhaul from I suspect lack of use from the prior owner. This was only our educated guess my mechanic and  me.But none the less I still had the overhaul.. The difference is I fly it way more than any of the prior owners. My Engine had only  nine hundred hours on itWhen I bought it --almost ten years ago.Now I believe it has almost 1700 or so.I hope you find out things are OK with your little 85.JUst fly it  and see.  Dennis 99564

Coupers,
I have a C-85 and the dip stick is marked at 4-1/2 quarts.  About 1/4 -1/2 quart is promptly blown out with one hour, then the next 1/2 quart is gone within 1-2 hours.  It just seems like there is too much oil at 4-1/2 quarts even though I understand that's the spec. for a C-85 conversion.   Oil pressure is usually high, over 60 (beyond the green area into the yellow). The top end had just been done in the last 24 hours and this time was accumulated over a 10 year period - obviously not flown very much.   I remember there was a discussion on this maybe a year ago.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.
