I believe we have a consensus that carb heat should always be on full when below 2000 rpm for landing. Also, we should always check for carb heat operation immediately prior to takeoff, after doing other runup checks.
It is less clear whether or not carb should ever be applied at settings other than full on or full off.
Most posts agree that carb heat should not be used on takeoff, however:

I think more discussion/clarification on the third item above would be appropriate, e.g., how do we check for icing, and should we takeoff with leaned mixture , carb heat partially on , and throttle set to less than full open ? Thank you all.
