I think that the factory may have linked the power and carb heat for a while.

 

But then Fred Weick almost lost the plane when landing at an airport with an over-water approach.  After he investigated, they removed that interlinkage.

 

It seems that partial carb heat, controlled via that kind of interlinkage, may cause MORE carb ice and some of it at critical times.

 

It’s been 20-25 years since I heard Fred tell that story so my memory is fuzzy.  I’d solicit information from others.

 

Nevertheless, I’d disconnect the interlinkage and have separate controls.
