Hey Scott: It sounds like your engine  needs a ring job. Even though the compression check says the engine is OK, you get ring blow by after several hundred hours. This ends up heating the oil.
    If you do not have an oil filter, adding a filter may reduce your oil temperatures by about 10 degrees. The larger nose bowl will most likely not make much difference. If the oil temps routinely run more than 110 degrees over OAT, and as you say, everything else is OK, I suspect the rings.
