The vents are facing forward and the gaskets are new. I have seen it leaking around the gas cap and believe that this is where the problem lies, however, my A&P and brother-in-law was in the airplane when it did this and now he is insisting on removing the wing tank to look for the possible leak. I'm just wondering if this is common to other Ercoupes. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tommy Thomas" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hello Randy, my first thoughts are about caps:
Are yours on correctly, with teh vent holes facing forward?
Do you have good gaskets under the caps?

Congratulations on the rebuild and on the restoration of a family heirloom.

Does anybody else have this problem: when I top off my fuel tanks with gas, and then take off, I have fuel misting around down by the main spar. We are usually flying open cockpit, and we only have the problem when we are in a climb attitude and only during the first 10 or 15 minutes of flight. If we fill the tank 2 inches from the top, there's no problem.
