Darrell.

The window welts that I have seen so far were all one piece from one side to the other. You have to make a cut into one welt to be able to slide the windows in.

The gap of 2-3 inches in front is not what I am used to.
The windows should close properly when you cut them squarely. And before we did the welts on my brothers plane, the windows would jump out of the channel from time to time and it was indeed not a joy then to close or open the windows.

Good luck fixing yours,

Hartmut

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Ercoupe side windows

Can the welt be installed in one piece from bottom of one side of fuselage to the bottom of the other side, or does it have to be cut on angle and spliced at the top, as mine is now?

The aluminum end hardware now has sharpened edges and tends to dig into the welt.  Not good.  I need to figure some way to blunt the edges so it will move smoothly.  And as the 2 pieces are riveted together, one is bent and has jumped the groove.  One is running in the groove and the other is running outside.  Makes it difficult to raise and lower.

And,  when I close the windows, there is an open gap of 2 or 3 inches at the front while the back is butted together.  Are the windows cut squarely where they meet at the top or on an angle.  Is the front radius greater than the rear radius.  I guess that will reveal itself when I pull the wnidows out, huh?

Thanks for your help.
